BIOGRAPHY: Elizabeth Anna was born about 1680, a daughter of Philip Wilhelm, Duke of Berg, by his second wife, Elizabeth Amalie Magdalena von Hessen-Darmstadt. Elizabeth Anna was a nineteenth generation descendant of the Adolph von Berg born in 1020 - died in 1080, the first ruler of the Bergisch Land. Around 1700 she married Adolph von der Burg, who was also a descendant, of about nineteen generations, of Adolph von Berg ( 1020-1080 ).
Elizabeth Anna and Adolph von der Burg was the parents of the three brothers that came to America in 1738. Prince Charles Phillip, a brother of Elizabeth Anna, became Duke of Berg in 1716. Having no male heirs, it is believed that Prince Charles Phillip viewed the three sons of Elizabeth Anna as rivals, forcing them to flee for their lives. In 1738 the three brothers, Johann, Peter, and Walther vonderBurg, boarded ships to America where they were found on ship records, immigration records, landgrants, homestead records etc.
